A fresh new take on a flag for Swindon
Supermarine
Swindon's Spitfire's
Following the bombing of the Supermarine factory in Southampton, the former Vickers factory at South Marston would be used to build Spitfires for the war effort from 1941 onwards. South Marston was at this point a shadow site which following the battle of Britain built Mk.IX Spitfires.
Throughout the war and afterwards, the facility built other aircraft types including the Short Sterling, Seafire, Supermarine Swift and Mk.XXI Spitfires. Towards the end of the site's existence, it helped build parts for concords. Honda bought the site in the 80s and produced cars there until 2021.

The Swindon flag acknowledges this prestigious aviation past by the use of blue-based off of the 1942-47 RAF roundel blended with the azure blue of Swindon's Coat of Arms
